Name: Frank
Age: 12
Breed: Domestic short hair

This poor baby was found a few days ago by a friend in their neighborhood. When found, he was having problems breathing, had open wounds, bones sticking out, and a runny nose.

When we first found him.

After two extensive visits in 19 hours, we got some info. He had another round of blood work done and his white blood cells were more than 4 times higher than the expected and than the normal count. He also has high proteins and globulins which indicate chronic infection. There was some fluid in the lungs which is causing him to have a really hard time breathing - he is having breathing treatments to help cure some of those issues so we hope that helps. He has cataracts in BOTH eyes. Severe nasal discharge and congestion on both sides - this could be infection, a polyp, or cancer. He also has discharge from the left eye. He has a balding spot on his forearm which is due to him constantly pawing at his face.

Staying strong.

Staying strong.

Finally able to leave the vet's office.

Finally able to leave the vet's office.

He was able to leave the vet after a couple of days of breathing treatments, IV fluids, and appetite stimulants. He still isn't eating yet but we're hoping that his congestion has cleared up enough to where eating becomes of interest. We've sent a copy of his last blood panel to the lab so they can tell us specifically what might be causing his high levels of white blood cells. If we don't see a change in appetite soon, we will be back to the vet and he will have to be fed through a feeding tube, which of course we don't want! But we will do what we have to to give this handsome the comfort he deserves.

The vet visits have totaled close to $1500; we are in desperate need of donations. We are 1000% non-profit so all donations are tax-deductible and will go towards helping Frank and others like him. You can make donations through the 'Donate' button on the bottom of the page or you can even call Island Pet Hospital at (702) 645-7387 and tell them you would like to contribute to Frank's bill. Every little bit helps! Stay tuned for more updates as we go through this journey with Frank.

Name: Riley-Chance
Age: 1
Breed: Long-Haired Chihuahua
Status: Adopted!

Everyone say hi to Riley-Chance! This amazing little girl is new to the Forget Me Not family as of just a couple days ago! Riley-Chance is a brindle colored long-haired chihuahua who is about a year old! She is microchipped and up to date on her vaccines as well. We rescued her from a local shelter today with what seems to be a fractured hind leg. She will be seen by a specialty vet this week to have a full check up and, more than likely, surgery to correct whatever injury she is suffering from. Despite her leg, she is all smiles and has one of the biggest little spirits we've ever seen.

We may need support for this baby's surgery, in the event that that's what she needs, so as soon as she has her vet check up, we will update everyone on the condition and estimates! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions!

Name: Winston
Age: 2
Breed: Chihuahua Mix
Status: Adopted!

This is completely heartbreaking but we are welcoming Winston to the Forget Me Not family. Winston is an owner surrender that joined our family earlier this morning. This little babe was left outside for weeks all alone.. the amount of neglect this little man has experienced is so traumatizing that he couldn't even make eye contact with volunteers who have helped him thus far. He was rushed to the vet by a volunteer and is having every test possible done to ensure his recovery.

Thankfully the response from his parvo test was negative but his blood work did reflect potential early kidney failure and x-rays revealed a foreign object lodged in his stomach, which is probably the reason he has no desire to eat. He is on an IV until we see progress in his appetite and we are anticipating surgery to remove the foreign object sometime next week if all goes well.

He's lost hope but we are here to save him and give him every ounce of hope we can. We are asking for donations to help us cover the care costs for Winston... estimates as of right now for tests and surgery total $1,094. There is definitely a chance the costs could rise based on his treatment so any donation or method of support helps! Please consider donating to Island Pet Hospital directly at (702) 645-7387 or through our website.

Name: Sawyer
Age: older
Breed: Chihuahua
Status: Adopted!

UPDATE 10/22 - Sawyer is headed to his recover foster home!!!! He has a bunch of stitches, some staples and a few drains that need daily care. Unless one of the wounds re-open the first surgery was a total success!! Thank you to everyone who was donated! Please consider supporting the funding for his medical ❤️

UPDATE 10/21 - FIRST INITIAL SURGERY SUCCESSFULLY CLEANSED, DISINFECTED AND CLOSED ALL OF SAWYERS WOUNDS! He will be reevaluated tomorrow by his vet to ensure the surgery took and nothing immediate is required right after. He will be closely monitored. Please donate, if you can ❤️❤️

With everything that happened the last few days we could NOT turn our heads on this baby boy. Say hello to Sawyer.

We met Sawyer this afternoon at a local shelter where a caring woman who just found him took him in seek of medical attention. She found him several days ago outside of a grocery store. He was found with wounds that have not healed or gotten any better after being in her care.

After being examined by our vet, on top of needing a neuter and a full vaccine update (which will happen over time) the vet mentioned that he has multiple wounds, a few more than we initially noticed, and they are all infected and developing an odor from the infection. They are really large in size and because of the openings in his skin will require a few surgeries to completely heal.

The family reported that he has not wanted to eat or drink anything since they've found him so he's lacking a lot of nourishment and energy that a happy boy like him should have. Sawyer is a senior boy but we are unsure of his exact age.

We need your help...we are in need of donations because of the high cost of this little man's medical. Our bill was roughly estimated to be upwards of $1,000+ but could easily spike depending on any new updates throughout his treatment. Please consider donating to help us help this lil guy. Anything helps!

Benefit Show at Velveteen Rabbit

On June 10th, we had our very first fundraising show! It was held downtown at Velveteen Rabbit which is the cuuuuuutest lil place. We were so lucky to have Kat Kalling, PAR, Unfair Fight, and Sheiks of Neptune donate their musical talent and time to help our cause. Sheiks even gave us 100% of their earnings from merch sales! We raised just over $600 from the night! We are still so incredibly grateful for everyone's support.

We weren't sure what to expect for our first show and it turned out so fantastic. Thank you to Velveteen Rabbit, the artists that performed, and everyone who came to support. We would not be able to grow without the love and support we receive from people like you. Can't wait for our next show!
